Kryos, a leader in vehicle refrigeration solutions, has taken a significant step forward in technological innovation with the successful installation of a GAH J500 refrigeration unit on a Lion 6 electric truck. This achievement marks a first in Canada: the unit operates with a 400-volt DC compressor, a technology already available in the United Kingdom for two years but unprecedented in the Canadian market.
The project required close collaboration between Kryos’ teams, GAH engineers, and Lion Electric engineers. The main challenge was accessing the truck’s 400-volt DC power to supply the refrigeration unit. Through joint efforts and multiple technical meetings, the teams successfully developed a custom 400-volt DC EPTO (Electric Power Take-Off) solution for this project.
Another major challenge was maintaining power supply while the truck was charging. This technical feat now allows the customer to keep their products at the ideal temperature during storage while optimizing the truck’s range for its journeys.
This installation solidifies Kryos’ position as a pioneer in the electric vehicle refrigeration industry. Thanks to its international network and strong ties with Europe, Kryos can import and adapt cutting-edge technologies before they become available in the local market. This responsiveness and expertise enable Kryos to offer innovative and sustainable solutions aligned with the growing needs of the electric transportation industry.
